Rosemead High School girls varsity volleyball team improved to 13-3 overall with a 3-0 match win against Grand Terrace in the opening round of California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section (CIFSS) playoffs on Oct. 31, 2017 at Rosemead.
Rosemead Head Coach Nancy Lopez said moments after the very close third set win, "I'm very proud that we kept playing hard every set and eventually pulled away for the win. Our players keep playing hard whether we are ahead or behind."
Rosemead improved to 13-3 overall while Grand Terrace finished its season at 10-7 overall.
Rosemead won the three sets 25-13, 25-18 and a wild 26-24 third set come from behind win to clinch the playoff victory. Rosemead was behind most of the third set and at 21-20 deficit came back for a 23-21 lead before Grand Terrace scored third straight points to take a 24-23 lead. Rosemead then scored the next three points to win the set and the match.
Stat leaders for Rosemead were Ariana Lazo with 10 kills and 7 digs, Linh Vo with four kills and nine digs, Jessica La and Emily Regan with three kills each, and Annika Gonzalez with 17 digs.
