Seven boys high school varsity basketball teams and five girls teams have qualified for California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section (CIFSS) basketball playoffs for 2018.
In boys divisions, Mark Keppel at number 2 and Schurr at number 9 got placed as among top 16 seeds in the 32 teams bracket. In girls divisions, Mark Keppel is seeded 4, San Gabriel is sixth and Gabrielino is seventh in their respective divisions.
In boys playoffs in division 3AA, Schurr will host West Torrance and San Gabriel Academy travels to number 5 seeded Kaiser. In division 3A, San Gabriel travels to number 5 seeded Temescal Canyon. In division 4AA, Gabrielino travels to number 8 seeded Rialto, Alhambra travels to number 4 seeded San Luis Obispo, number 2 seeded Mark Keppel hosts El Segundo, and South El Monte plays at number 4 seeded Buckley.
All boys first round games are on Wednesday, Feb. 14, starting at 7 p.m. unless CIFSS and both competing schools arrange a different time. Following rounds will be Feb. 16, 20, 23 and March 2.
In girls divisions, number 4 seeded Mark Keppel hosts Cypress in division 2AA, number 6 seeded San Gabriel hosts Pasadena in division 3AA, number 7 seeded Gabrielino hosts San Dimas in division 4AA, Rosemead travels to number 6 seeded California Academy of Math and Science in Carson in division 4A, and Ramona Convent plays at number 8 seeded Xavier Prep.
All girls first round games will start at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, unless both competing schools and CIFSS approves a different starting time. Following rounds will be played on Feb. 17, 21, 24, and March 2.
