Royal_Court_2010RGB-WebVersSan Gabriel Mission 239th Annual Fiesta Royal Court was recently selected.

Queen Julia Hernandez (center) is a senior at Alhambra High School, Princess Michelle Nguyen (on left) is a junior at San Gabriel Mission High School, and Princess Briana Hernandez is a junior at Gabrielino High School in San Gabriel.

Mission’s fiesta on Sept. 3-5, will include entertainment, rides, games, food, and historical, cultural and religious festivities.  There will be free admission to the mission museum and gardens on Sept.3-5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

San Gabriel –  Dr. Jennifer Perry, associate professor of anthropology, Pomona College, will lead a History Forum about Chumash Indian people at San Gabriel Mission History Day from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 13, rain or sun, as part of mission’s monthly History Day.

Each year thousands of fourth-grade elementary school students in California study California mission history and build mission models. A few mission building models are displayed in the museum, grounds, and gift shop lobby.

San Gabriel – The group “Chapel of Charlemagne” that is led by world renowned Professor Dr. Robert Fowells, emeritus professor of music at California State University at Los Angeles, and assistant director, Karen Miller, will perform at San Gabriel Mission on Sun., Dec. 6, said a mission spokesperson.
The event, “A Gregorian Chant Concert,” will start at 4:30 p.m. in the old Mission Church at 429 S. Junipero Serra Dr. at the intersection of Mission Road. The program will offer chants for Quadragesima, Advent and Christmas.
