Monterey Park Police Officers arrested a male adult in connection with a series of “distraction” burglaries on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 18.

The burglaries occurred in November, 2011, at two separate Senior Citizen residential facilities in Monterey Park. The suspect claimed to be an electrical worker and removed property after gaining access to private residences.

Images of the suspect (captured on video) were distributed to the residents of all senior residential facilities in Monterey Park, and an active Neighborhood Watch campaign helped to inform residents to be aware of the suspect.

The suspect was observed at Lion’s Manor, 215 N. Chandler Ave. by an alert employee who recognized him and called the police immediately.
The suspect was captured in the 500 block of N. Atlantic Blvd. after patrol officers and investigators contained the area.

Narciso Linares, age 61, of Los Angeles, was booked at the Monterey Park City Jail for Burglary charges. Detectives believe that he may be responsible for similar crimes in neighboring areas. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Cevallos at 626-307-1487.
