The Poppies are coming!
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 397 will be distributing Poppies during the week of May 19 to May 26. Poppies will be available at the American Legion Post 397 and from all Post and Auxiliary members.

The Monterey Park City Council has reaffirmed its decision to have an ad hoc committee study a proposed transfer of fire and emergency medical services to Los Angeles County.
At its regular May 2 meeting, the council voted 3-2 in favor of appointing members of the special five-seat panel for a base period of one year or, at least, until all work of the group has been completed. The committee will meet for the first time today, Monday, May 14 at 6 p.m. in the city hall community room.

MONTEREY PARK -- May 5, 2012 -- Today may be the Cinco de Mayo but the real celebration is tomorrow on Sunday, May 6 for local residents. Music, dancing, and Mexican food will be featured at Barnes Park Amphitheater beginning at 1p.m. Best of all -- all the entertainment is free.

Monterey Park -- Mariachi Music will start-off Monterey Park’s 30th annual Cinco de Mayo celebration on Sunday, May 6th, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the city's Barnes Park Amphitheatre (350 South McPherrin Avenue).

Monterey Park, Thursday, April 19, 2012 -- Monterey Park Police reported today that on Wednesday, April 11, they conducted a "sting" of persons that are providing illegal "residential motel" and transportation services in the city.
