Greater Monterey Park Chamber will host the traditional “State of the City” presentation by City Mayor Teresa Real Sebastian on Tuesday, October 24.
The civic event will be held at the historic El Encanto Building, 700 El Mercado Ave. Monterey Park. Activities begin at 3 p.m. Admission will be free.
Monterey Park was recently name one of the “Best Places to Live” in the U.S. by Money Magazine which conducts an annual survey sponsored by U.S. Realtors.
Mayor Real Sebastian has been a council member since 2011 and is the current mayor the city. (Council members rotate through the office.)
Topics expected to be covered include construction of a new shopping center in the city, which will feature a Costco and Home Depot stores. Other topics include future hotels, improvements in the south Garfield Avenue corridor and future plans for the city.
Monterey Park was incorporated in 1916 and will be celebrating its 102nd year of existence in 2017. The city is a “full service city” with its own Fire and Police Department, library, water departments and 13 parks.
The non-profit Greater Chamber of Commerce is an independent business organization serving businesses and residents of Monterey Park. Offices are at the historic El Encanto Building, 700 El Mercado Ave., Monterey Park.
