Boys-Girls Club Honored as Top Non-Profit

  • By David Barron

Boys & Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley (the Club) was honored June 28 as a Nonprofit of the Year at a celebration of California Nonprofits Day at the State Capitol in Sacramento.

The Club has been selected by Assemblyman Ed Chau (D-Monterey Park) as an exceptional nonprofit organization in the 49th District community.
JR Dzubak, the Executive Director, joined nearly one hundred other nonprofit leaders from across the state being honored at the annual California Nonprofits Day event. The California Nonprofits Day event is formally recognized by Assembly Concurrent Resolution 54, authored by the chair of the new Assembly Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector Assemblywoman Monique Limon (D-Santa Barbara).
The Club’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The Club serves kids ages 6 to 18 in the communities of Monterey Park, Alhambra, Rosemead, San Gabriel, Montebello, City of Industry, La Puente, and Baldwin Park. In partnership with the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, the Club also has units in Ramona Gardens and Estrada Courts Housing Projects. The Club delivers exciting and educational programs to more than 2,100 boys and girls each year.
