By Julian Chung I had a wonderful time at the Ocean Star Restaurant last week. About 40 people attended the Monterey Park Chamber’s monthly networking luncheon.
Food was great…as was the company. Monterey Park Chief of Police Jim Smith was also present along with many key local business people. And thank you to the guest speaker, Jay Kim. He shared with us his knowledge of how to utilize the Internet’s social media to increase visibility for our businesses. Facebook, Twitter, Four Square, and Yelp are the social sites he used as examples. Facebook: Jay mentioned that Facebook search engine is used more then Google. Using KFC as example, he helped us understand the importance of “Like” and “impressions”. 1 million “Likes” can lead to 3 million “Likes” with very little advertising dollars. Twitter and Kogi Tacos: Kogi Tacos,” a mobile food van, based their whole business on twitting their 900 readers of their daily locations. Can your business use the same technique? Four Square and Yelp: Sign into any either of the sites to “check in” for “badges” and recognitions. (You have to be a business for Four Square) Anytime customers check into either of the apps and shares their location, business is exposed to potentially hundreds more potential customers. Using reward system for the frequent customer may lead to more positive comments and more “check ins” or clicks to your business site, leading to more potential customers. Thank you Monterey Park Chamber!!
