VowsWebVersGetting married on Valentine's Day makes it easier to remember your anniversary date, according to one couple who took advantage of the service offered by the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC).

(Photo by David Munoz shows Jonathan Mapuatuli and Rubi Morales reciting vows before Deputy Marriage Commissioner Anita Morales at East L.A. Recorder's Office.

The county agency issued licenses and performed marriage ceremonies on Valentine's Day at seven offices throughout L.A. County, including one in East Los Angeles at 4716 East Cesar Chavez Ave., which serves the West San Gabriel Valley.  No appointment was necessary for marriage ceremonies on Valentine's Day.

Valentines_Day_Wedding_WebVersRegistrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan said, “To make the process more convenient and to provide couples the best service possible, we are providing them the opportunity to obtain a marriage license and to be wed in a civil marriage ceremony that same day.”

The RR/CC Branch Office in East Los Angeles issued marriage licenses and performed marriage ceremonies for several couples. Johnathan Mapuatuli, 21, and Rubi Morales, 21, attended the Branch Office in East Los Angeles to get married. Mapuatuli said, “I'm glad we got married today because it will be easy to remember our anniversary.”

Volunteer Deputy Marriage Commissioners performed ceremonies from 8:30a.m. through 4:00p.m. Volunteers began performing civil wedding ceremonies at the RR/CC headquarters in Norwalk in 1997. Now volunteers perform ceremonies in all the RR/CC office locations.
