Tran could now be sentenced up to 10 years in prison and be fined up to $250,000, officials said.
The plea agreement was made so Tran could avoid other pending federal charges of extortion and obstruction of justice.

IN OTHER WEST SAN GABRIEL VALLEY NEWS, the Monterey Park Police Department identified which officers were involved in a fatal shooting at a Carl's Jr. right next to East Los Angeles College on the corner of Atlantic Boulevard and Avenida Cesar Chavez on Jan. 23
The two officers were named by Police Chief Jim Smith as Agent Peter Palomino and Officer Everado Romo.
Following a call that day that Chino Hills 22-year-old resident Steven Rodriguez was breaking windows at the fast food restaurant with a metal pipe, the two officers fired 10 shots at Rodriguez, fatally wounding him.
Palomino was listed as a 12-year veteran of the department, while Romo had worked there on the force for three years, Smith said.
