ALHAMBRA -- A memorial ride to honor a fallen Alhambra police officer will be held in May as part of the Police Unity Tour in Washington, D.C.

The event and a fund-raising activity will honor Alhambra Police Officer Ryan Stringer, who died in a car accident while on duty in July 2010.

To support the event, Alhambra officers will a hold a fundraiser on Monday, Jan. 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the 38 Degrees Ale House and Grill, 100 West Main Street, Alhambra. Persons attending can buy food and participate in drawings for prizes. Proceeds will help pay for officers's entry fees.

Officers will ride in may for three days with the tour's Southern California Chapter from Somerset, N.J. to Washington, D.C. To participate each officer must raise a $125 entry fee and $1,800 in donations.

The funds raise will go towards the National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial in Washington, D.C.
